So friends, I created a board post on Spotify discussion/community, and if the post reaches 100 votes, it will be reviewed by Spotify to consider being brought back. When I logged in and had a hang session, and could not start the group queue, I was extremely saddened. This feature was very underrated, but such a fundamentally good idea. After I introduced this feature to my friends, quite literally all of them utilized this feature in their own friend circles. Personally, I used this feature several times per week. Click on the ‘Device’ icon in the bottom left (it looks like a speaker), then select ‘Start a remote group session and invite other Spotify Premium members. This removes the factor of having to ask someone to play a certain song, or asking to borrow someones phone to queue a few songs. You can directly open a web browser and sign in to JQBX then. Invite Friends: Once the Group Session is started, you’ll have two ways to invite friends: through a QR code or by sharing a link. JQBX is also a great service that lets you play Spotify Premium songs with your friends remotely. If youd like to avoid this and youre listening with others in the same place, you can enable the option to l isten on the same speaker. Select this option to initiate the Group Session. Keep in mind that Group Sessions are now remote, so everyone will listen to the music on their own device and it might be expected to see some delay. I used this feature whenever I had friends over, I'd offer everyone to join the queue so that everyone could contribute to the music that was being played, from their own phone. Start a Remote Group Session: Among the available options, you’ll find Start a remote group session. If you want to create your own Group Session, simply play a song on Spotify, select the “Devices Available” logo and select “Start a group session” you can also select "Scan to Join" (or click the "join" link that somebody messaged you) if you want to join somebody else’s Group Session. From my understanding, they have removed the old group session option to "play from the same device as xyz." This feature would allow Spotify users to share a group queue and individually contribute to this queue from their own personal device, and sync it to one device that was connected presumably to a speaker. With the newest beta, you're able to create and join a Group Session through “join” link that can be sent through an email, or social media or messaging app. Previously, creating a Group Session involved scanning a QR code directly from another person's device, so it had to be done in person. This means that you and up to five friends, all in different places, can listen to the same playlists and podcasts at the same time, all on your own devices. (Network should be the same) Use discord, open context menu on your friend who is listening to Spotify, select listen. ![]() No option to + or share or start remote session. All it shows is 'current device' and 'no other device found'. Even when I follow step by step instructions to get to the remote group session on spotify, that option is just not appearing for me. Target your desktop PC/MAC for audio output. Remote group session option not appearing. All it shows is current device and no other device found. ![]() Basic accounts are free, but you can upgrade to premium paid memberships for perks like unlimited skips and no ads. Remote group session option not appearing. The good news is signing up is quick and easy through the Spotify app or website. Use your smartphone app to open a group session. This first one may be obvious, but in order to host or join any Spotify experience, you need a Spotify account. Spotify has released a new beta version of its Group Session feature, this time allowing Premium subscribers to listen to the same playlists and podcasts with other Premium subscribers anywhere in the world. From there you can start a session like you can on mobile. ![]() ![]() Thankfully, Spotify just remedied both of those. And two, the listeners had to be in the same location, which didn't work for people who were quarantining in very different places. First, the music could only play from one source at a time. Essentially a party mode, the feature first debuted in May. There were two big problems with the first beta version of Group Session, however. Spotify announced today it’s updating its recently launched shared-queue feature, Group Session, to support remote usage. A few months ago, Spotify released the first beta version of Group Session, a group-listening feature that let Premium subscribers in the same room take control of the music from their own device - it was sort of like a collaborative playlist.
